The Carnival, formed in Kajaani, Finland in 1999 and Babes in the Abyss, formed in Helsinki, Finland 2018 are releasing a split LP.
The Carnival has been previously known from thunderously fast hardcore punk mixed with metal riffs from the Celtic Frost guidebook. The band has always remained underground. Terrorizer: “- -wild, supercharged, riotous blast of souped up punk with wild, supercharged, riotous screamed vocals hurtling along at about three million bpm. Fuzzy, rough as hell and brandishing instant appeal and arse-kicking attitude”, these days one song sometimes takes as long some of the band’s first EP’s did!

For Babes in the Abyss, it has been impossible to find comparisons right from the start. Their obscure brand of harmonium -fuelled heavy music has been met with delight and interest with their first cassettes, and now their primitive yet ceremonial style is even more dedicated than before. The vocals of Finnish cult hero Albert Witchfinder also brings its own, theatrical layer to the music.
Heavy music doesn’t have to be daft. I can be deep and indulging. The Carnival / Babes in the Abyss -split-LP invites one to the adventures and nightmarish visions within one’s own brain and to behold the greatness of life.
